Diverts River to Build Power Plant Dam.&#039;&#039;&#039;<br /> <br /> Water was turned into the big tunnel just completed at Long lake by the Washington Water Power company yesterday for the first time. The purpose of this is to drain the Spokane river through the tunnel to provide for building the Long lake dam.<br /> <br /> Work will commence today on the coffer dam across the river, turning all water into the tunnel so the big dam can be constructed. All construction material is on the ground for the works.
