According to the county commissioners<br />
there {s a strip of road on the<br />
county line between this county and<br />
Lincoln county that stands small<br />
chance of ever being improved to connect<br />
miles of good macadam road on<br />
either side. Sunset boulevard and the<br />
Reardan road are now taken to within<br />
one-half mile of each other.<br />

The road is one mile on the county<br />
line and Lincoln county has put in its<br />
half of the mile and is waiting for<br />
the commissioners of Spokane county<br />
to put in the other half. As it is now<br />
the half mile {s in very bad shape,<br />
according to those who have seen it.<br />

Commissioners Allan R, Scott and<br />
Fred K, McBroom said yesterday that<br />
the half mile of road was so hilly that<br />
the state would never approve of a<br />
road of that grade. The state will not<br />
permit a road of more than 5 per cent<br />
grade and they allege this will be more<br />
than that unless it winds around the<br />
hills to a greater length than a half<br />
mile.<br />

“In the first place there was a more<br />
practical and cheaper route than the<br />
one taken,” said Commissioner McBroom,<br />
“Lincoln county agreed to consult<br />
us about putting in the connecting link,<br />
but has not done so and has<br />
constructed the easy half of the road<br />
and left us the hard part of it.”<br />
