Mrs. Rose KE, Mattes, 93, an<br />
area early settler, died today in<br />
a nursing home here.<br />
<br />
A Kentucky native, she had<br />
settled in Harrington, Wash, in<br />
1902. Following her marriage to<br />
the late Howard Joseph Mattes,<br />
a lumberman, the couple lived<br />
in Reardan until 1926 when they<br />
moved to Spokane.<br />
<br />
Here Mr, Mattes built and operated<br />
several business buildings.<br />
<br />
Mrs. Mattes was a member of<br />
Manito Presbyterian Church.<br />
<br />
Surviving are two daughters,<br />
Mrs. E. J. (Marjorie) Crosby,<br />
and Mrs. R. E. (Helen) Wert,<br />
both of Spokane and two grandsons.<br />
<br />
The body is at Hazen & Jaeger’s.<br />
