In the 1950s, Ford was sending their high school students to Reardan. They considered consolidating with Reardan, but state law prohibited that since the districts did not share borders. (Long Lake was not yet consolidated with Reardan.) Ford and Loon Lake consolidated with Springdale.

In 1957 Edwall started sending their high school students to Reardan.

In 1975 Reardan and Edwall consolidated to form Reardan-Edwall Joint School District #009.

This district covers about 336 square miles. It completely includes one state park, Fisk State Park, and part of the larger Riverside State Park.
The district is the second largest in the state. For comparison of the land area:
