CLASS PROPHECY (continued)

“I've often wondered what became of Beverly, Margaret and Mary”, inquired Mr. Wisdom, well, went on the little star, this is what they are doing.

“Mary Bergeron is running around the streets of Reardan claiming to be the First Lady of the Land. It seems as though this was all caused from a relapse of the brain from taking care of six musical minded children. Beverly Davis now has a lovely pair of false teeth, guess what, smiled the little star, she’s a dental nurse. Margaret Stuhlmiller is reading a story to twenty little children, what happened? Oh, she is a first grade teacher.

“Bernard Thiemens and Dan Plaster were always interested in farming”, what are they doing? Bernard has developed a new variety of dust resistance wheat. He has revolutionized farming into a white collar job. Daniel is still agriculturally minded, He has developed a new variety of cucumbers. This variety is known as "Dans Best".

However, some of the class of’52 have remained fairly close to the places of their childhood. For instance, Nellie Howe is just rolling in money. She says that the little old printing press works mighty good. She is editor of the “Indian Prairie Tribune”.

Deep Creek, which is now a suburb of Spokane boasts of a girls’ school of which Dwayne Paul is Superintendent,

Carol Hein is head nurse in the mens’ ward at the Reardan Memorial Hospital. Her past time is ju-jitsu.

Mr. Wisdom interrupted the little star to make this comment, “While fishing at Horseshoe Lake I saw a very strange object beneath the surface, which was rather large and moved slowly. It was certainly not a fish, what was it?” “That, said the star was a submarine-airplane which can fly in air or under water. The inventor was Carl Rogers.

The conversation continued, “Who hit the most home runs in big league baseball this season? “Why Junior,” answered the star. Junior is really "on the ball".

While speaking about baseball reminds me of another sport. I find that Bertha Coil is now president of the “Baton Twirlers’’ School. Her graduates are now found in all parts of the world.

You will remember your office girl? Janet Clinton? Well, she is now making wigs and hair styles sure have changed.

Ann Sherwood went to Hollywood, but the closest she got to Hollywood was filling Esther Williams swimming pool.

Lyle Plummer has set up a business of his own. It’s called Plummer’s Better Plumbing At Plummers,

But wait, there is one member who has really made good in Hollywood, Joyce Delzer is now the second Betty Grable.

Ethyl Doughty and Barbara Koberstine are now owners of the “Rest Haven Mortuary”. They claim that all the customers are satisfied customers at least they never complain.

Marie Carstens did achieve her ambition of being an old maid. She is content with her cats and canaries. Anyone who needs a baby sitter just call on Marie.

The little star seemed to fade away, darkness closed in, and Mr. Wisdom was left alone to the silence of the night and his memories.
