THE BAND IN CONCERT, REARDAN, March 27, 1753

Another home concert was presented before an appreciative audience on March 27, in the high school auditorium. The entire band played the following numbers:

Brasses To The Fore—A March by Walters
Larghetto by Handel
Dorian—An Overture by Whitney
King Cotton—A March by Sousa
Mother Goose Jumps by Chiarelli
Billboard—A March by Klohr

Individual numbers accompanied by the piano were:

Cornet Solo—Carnival of Venice: Harold Thompson
Clarinet Solo—Concerto: Joan Meyer
Saxophone Duet—Indian Love Song: Gwen Janett, Geraldine Lightle
Saxophone Solo—Carnival of Venice: Henry Thompson

Individual numbers accompanied by the band:

Sousaphone Solo—Stupendo: Norman Fiess
Saxophone Solo—Pepperino: Janet McDowell
Trio for Cornets—Jim Dandies: Harold Thompson, Ronnie Ahlf,
Marion Wendlandt, Lola Hoffman,
Cheryl Jacobson, Betty Brommer

BI-COUNTY LARGE GROUP FESTIVAL

This meet was held at Ritzville on Saturday, April 11. The entire Glee Club and the entire Band participated in this Festival. The ratings are as follows:

Glee Club: Excellent
Band: Superior
Junior Chorus: Excellent

EASTERN WASHINGTON LARGE GROUP FESTIVAL

On April 18, 1953, both band and glee club participated in the large group Festival at Cheney, Washington. This meet was sponsored by the Eastern Washington Music Educators association at EWCE.

Approximately 1500 Inland Empire high school musicians participated in the contest. Again Reardan displayed excellent musical ability as shown by the following ratings:

Class C Bands Superior: Reardan


Class C Girls Glee Club Excellent: Reardan

Out of 26 bands present, only three received a Superior rating, of which the Reardan Band was one.

LILAC FESTIVAL PARADE, MAY 16

The Reardan Band and Majorettes marched down the streets of Spokane in this parade. Reardan has been participating in this parade for several years.

ALL SCHOOL MUSIC CONTEST

On the evening of May 20, 1953, the music departments of the Reardan Schools presented another concert. This being the last home performance.

MARCHING CONTEST AT ODESSA

This is an Annual event. All the county and Bi-County bands participate in this event. The Marching Contest was held on May 23.
