NORTHEAST DISTRICT MUSIC EDUCATORS CONTEST

Pullman, March 5, 1955

This contest also included solo’s and small ensembles. The contest was held at the State College of Washington. Twelve hundred young musicians from fifty Inland empire schools participated in this event.

Trombone: Bill Mahrt: Superior
Alto Saxophone Duet: Gwen Janett, Carol Brommer: Superior
Flute: Kathy Mahrt: Superior
Clarinet: Phyllis Meyer: Superior

BI-COUNTY MUSIC FESTIVAL

Davenport, March 19, 1955

The band program was given in the evening. The Festival band was composed of more than 400 students from 11 bicounty schools. The band was directed by Randall Spicer, director of bands at Washington State College. Selections played by the band were:

Hall of Fame by Olivadoti
Panis Angelicus by Franck
Deep River Suit by Erickson
SiSi Trocadero Mambo by Walters
Sears and Stripes Forever by Sousa

Spokane, April 2, 1955

Our band received a rating of “Superior”. The band contest was held at Lewis and Clark high school.
